Saludos Latino Equity Community,

In this time when many of us prepare to honor our ancestors and those who have passed on, we take a moment to pause, reflect and offer grounding for all to continue in your work. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost loved one in acts of violence these last few weeks.

As we face constant lies and racist propaganda from politicians trying to rally votes based in fear and “othering” of vulnerable communities, it is important we mobilize everyone who is able to vote. Please encourage, support and inform your communities about the importance of voting for this midterm.

The stakes are high—so high that politicians scared to lose their control of Congress are using images of the caravan of immigrants to create fear and fake news, and trying to leverage that fear towards votes. Meanwhile children are still being held in camps, immigrants are being targeted, voter suppression is being used as a political strategy to keep black and brown people from voting, women’s health rights are under attack and so much more.

The work of the Latino Equity project is more important than ever. This is the time we need to come from a place of love and compassion for each other and really dig deep into our own biases and racial inequities. We cannot afford not to. Please support us in sharing our upcoming trainings with your networks. What we accomplish when we unite and come together can be amazing!
