The Executive Orders & policies enacted by Trump and his administration are infuriating, disappointing, and life-altering. Yet, we are reminded that this attempt to deepen White Supremacy in the United States is not new. Racism is woven into the very fabric of this country. While we often think of the U.S. as a nation, we must recognize that it is a 400-year-old project rooted in white supremacy and racismβone directly inspired by the colonization of Latin America and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean.
As Latinx* people, we have a responsibility to confront the ways white supremacy and colonization have shaped our identities and our communities. This starts with political education and deep self-reflection. πππ π₯πππ π₯π π₯πππ πππ₯ππ π ππ€ βππ! The lives and futures of our people, especially those most vulnerable right now, depend on how we show up for each otherβin every sense of the word.
Join us for βππππππππππ πππ₯ππππππ workshop on February 27th dedicated to dismantling Latinidad and empowering participants to reclaim their race and ethnicity to build political power for Black and Indigenous people. By understanding the roots of racism in our home countries and how they manifest in the U.S., we can take action from an informed perspective.
